No this is NOT a political statement!
It’s about a mom, who isn’t used to the electric stovetop and has burned many things while here.
In about 40 days time I’ve melted a plastic spatula to my FAVORITE pan (which also burned).
I have started the wrong burner countless times resulting in ALMOST burned things.
I have burned eggs to the pot (not while cooking but left the stove top on after putting eggs on the plate).
Today, however takes the cake.
I burned a cookie sheet.
Melted a hole in it.
The burner has melted cookie sheet all over it.
Don’t believe me:
Here’s the cookie sheet:
I always tell my kids, “It’s okay to make mistakes…just as long as you learn from them.”
What have I learned?
- Don’t leave even clean pots on the stove.
- Check three time to make SURE you’ve turned off said stovetop.
- Check and re-check which burner you are turing on, no really check again!
Luckily my husband being the supportive amazing guy he is helped me to laugh at myself, assured me it would be okay, and guess what we are going to Lowe’s for a new burner and Target for new cookie sheets.
(P.S. Target has a Starbucks, I think I need a coffee)
Oh my goodness, I had the same issue when I moved to my house here. I can’t believed it burned an actual hole through. That’s crazy!
I’ve since done some research (well a friend did) as to how hot the burner gets. 1200 degrees!!! No wonder there was a hole…I had no idea. I thought the cookie sheets honestly would react the same as a tea kettle, guess not! 🙂
