This has been the year of CHANGE!
At the beginning of this year I wrote this:
That word was CHANGE…and it has proven to be true for our family.
We have been to 28 states, lived in 3, stayed in 12 (not including the 3 lived in), a kid in diapers is now pretty well potty-trained (YIPEE), we have grown as a family, made lot’s of memories, been blessed in ways that we can’t even begin to describe, grown and a couple, and that just scratches the surface: Change.
We are not the same people we were in Jan 2016, but in some ways we still are.
I’m so thankful for this past year.
There have been some deep low’s but some amazing highs.
We’ve had family and friends (who are like family) pull together for us in ways that blow my mind. We have experienced unity from people who all believe in what God wants to do through our family overseas.
It has been humbling, and stretching for us all.
There is a huge learning curve for us and we are still very much in a learning stage. Learning to depend on God for more and more. Learning to ask for and accept help. Learning to move often, make good memories and have good good bye’s.
So much has changed, it makes me so thankful for our God who never changes.
Our family verse has been:
“The Lord Himself goes before you, He is with you, He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.”
-Deuteronomy 31:8
Many times we have said this over and over. We’ve prayed it out loud and reminded ourselves, our children and our friends that this is true. God has gone before us, He has never left us and we don’t have to be afraid our discouraged.
Thank you all for walking this journey of CHANGE with us. We are so thankful for each of you!
Do you have a Word of the Year?
I don’t always have one and I haven’t felt like I have one yet for 2017…maybe I’ll just keep change because so much will happen this year as well?!
Let me know what your word is, if you have one!
Happy New Year.
I am happy for you and your family as you begin this exciting adventure. I am sure each day will provide a new discovery. There may be some difficult times but I know it is going to be so rewarding in the end. Take care, young man.
Thank you Brian for your kind words. It was a pleasure getting to know you a little at school.
